Postcard from the Library

I stepped outside the library
as the City Hall Clock Tower tolled twice.
I thought,
"This should signify something"
but it did not.

Some Mondays you need an understudy.
Market Basket with a green cast under the volcano in a summer of socks unmatched.
Cooler on Tuesday, if you sew.

Postcard from Acupuncture

Four pins in each leg,
three in each arm,
two on my face,
cheeks and eyebrows.
One in between the eyebrows
another on the sternum.
Sitting with the pins in
I tried to make my
brain turn off
but it did not.

I am watching pitches online.  Looking at downs as little lines on a picture of a field.  Listening to Tiny Desk concerts.  The Cubs just lost.  The National just ended.  This is America.

When I got home the car was gone.
There is a country song somewhere in this:
I gave my car to the bartender.
It kept driving me to you.

Postcard from Winchester

Timid men with expensive guitars
torturing the sonic spectrum.
